The Turkish Republic would like to formally express its disappointment and extreme concern regarding the recent escalatory measures taken by the Greek Government. As members of the North Atlantic Council were discussing the path of peace and de-escalation with Greece and other representatives of the Council, the Greek Government issued a completely unwarranted and unjustified statement calling for European sanctions against Turkey. Such calls come at a time when the Greek Government has yet to offer evidence that the death of the Turkish Foreign Minister was an accident let alone an apology for tragedy. Greece's calls for escalation represent yet another escalatory measure from Greece which further demonstrates Greece's history of aggressive actions against Turkey, as seen by the militarization of its Aegean allies and the exclusion of Turkey from the Mediterranean Oil Agreement.

The Turkish Republic calls for the nations of Europe to refute the Greek calls for sanctions and, in order to de-escalate the situation, unilaterally call for the demilitarization of the Greek Aegean Islands and for the incorporation of Turkey into the Mediterranean Oil Agreement.

In recognition of the late honorable Turkish FM's long-time championing of environmental preservation amid climate change, the Beijing Zoo has agreed to loan one of its prized pandas, Ping Ping An An to the Istanbul Zoo to mark further cooperation in environmental and zoological endeavors between the People's Republic of China and Turkiye.

With the dramatic escalation of tensions in the Aegean conflict, Greece has officially called on its European allies to impose sanctions on Turkey. Greece's appeal for sanctions reflects a deepening concern over what it perceives as Turkey's aggressive actions in the disputed waters. The European response to this call for sanctions is eagerly awaited, as the international community closely monitors the unfolding situation and the potential repercussions for regional stability.
