Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan delivered a bombastic historic speech to the Turkish National Grand Assembly in which he said that he will never forget the "deliberate killing" of his "beloved friend" and "a true diplomat." He stated that the West is walking on a dangerous path in "provoking Turkey" and "playing with fire" by "pushing Greece towards a war that it neither needs, wants, or can win." "We know who those who are manipulating Greece are, we know where they are, and as the old Turkish adage goes, "one night, we will come for you," said Erdogan in his usual pathos as the parliamentarians cheered. "They are sacrificing Greece on the altar of their imperial ambitions, but the time of colonialism is over. We will throw the in the sea, as we have done many times before in history," Erdogan said. "All of Turkey's enemies will fall one by one." The Turkish president also reiterated Turkey's historic and legal rights in the Aegean sea and promised to the Assembly that his government will protect those rights with everything that it possesses. Erdogan also condemned the violence against ethnic Greeks in Europe calling on Western governments to take action to maintain interethnic harmony. "We have no problems with the brotherly Greek nation with whom we share a heritage and a history. We are sad to see they are being drawn into geopolitical games by colonialists in the West," Erdogan concluded.
