Germany Offers Condolences, Help in Light of the Recent Cyberattack in Turkey

The Federal Republic of Germany has been closely monitoring the situation following the critical failure within the Telecommunication Authority of Turkey (Bilgi İletişim ve Teknolojileri Kurumu), under the Ministry of Transport and Communications. This incident, which significantly disrupted telecommunication services across Turkey and affected a vast segment of the Turkish population and institutions, highlights the vulnerabilities that our interconnected digital world faces.

Germany expresses deep concern over the ramifications of this cyber incident, one of the most substantial in recent Turkish history. In a gesture of solidarity and support to Turkey during this challenging time, Germany extends its willingness to assist in both the investigation of this incident and the restoration of services.

Recognizing the complexity and sophistication of cyber threats in our modern era, Germany offers to share its expertise and capabilities in cybersecurity to help Turkey strengthen its digital infrastructure and prevent future occurrences of such disruptive incidents. Our Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) has a wealth of experience in dealing with cyber threats and is prepared to provide technical support and advice tailored to the needs identified by Turkish authorities.

This incident underscores the critical need for international cooperation in enhancing our collective cybersecurity. Germany is committed to working alongside Turkey and our international partners in developing robust mechanisms for cyber defense, sharing intelligence on emerging threats, and implementing best practices for digital resilience.

In this spirit of cooperation, Germany encourages the continuation and expansion of dialogue within international cybersecurity forums. Together, we can build a more secure digital future for all nations.

Germany stands with Turkey in these trying times and looks forward to fostering a closer collaboration in cybersecurity and beyond.
