The End of Xi? CCP Hardliners Rumored to be Preparing a Change of Leadership

By: John Harris

BREAKING: Members within the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) are mulling a decision to replace Xi Jinping, according to an anonymous CCP party official. This development comes on the heels of internal CCP criticism of Xi due to China’s recent economic struggles and dissatisfaction with China's relations with Japan and South Korea.

CCP party elites are rumored to be coalescing around another figure with strong ties to the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), China’s military. Though China finally has a timeline for reunification with Taiwan, CCP officials are alleged to be frustrated with Xi’s leadership, amid the US’s reduced role in global politics.

Chinese experts have long stated that Xi has intentions to expand his legacy beyond Taiwanese reunification and create Chinese global hegemony. It is unclear how domestic pressures might affect Xi’s foreign policy. Sources in China anticipate that Xi might be more willing to take bigger risks to secure his position within the CCP, though it remains unclear how Xi plans on responding to these rumors.

More to come…
